A little piece of airline history at this restaurant, it used to be the headquarters for Pan Am. Great patio wonderful food we had the grouper that was coated with pano and macadamia nuts with asparagus and rice it was so delicious it had a key lime butter sauce, which was so perfect. Service wasn't the best but it wasn't the worst either, the good definitely made up for it.

On our last trip to Key West, my parents, husband and myself were searching for a good restaurant for dinner one night. As we strolled around no menu was overly enticing, until we arrived at Kelly's. The best thing about Kelly's is the outdoor patio. The ambiance is exactly what I wanted on the warm winter evening - trees provided a bit of shade and outdoor strings of lights added to the tropical feel. We ordered a bottle of wine and were offered excellent service. All four of us enjoyed a different dinner, most of us opting for the fresh fish meals. None of us were disappointed. Kelly's will definitely be on our list when we return to Key West.

If you're looking for the best happy hour on the island, you've found it at Kelly's. Recommended to me by a local during our last trip down, we just returned for our second time and I know it'll be high on our list when we return. With 1/2 off appetizers (I suggest the hot wings, "pizza," and nachos) and great drink prices you can easily spend 3 hours there without breaking the bank. While Kelly's is a brewery, I can't say that I tried the beers (margarita's for $3.50 were an easy sell for me) but my husband tried all three and loved them! Oh, and at $2.50 per pint, he was pretty happy too.

Went there on a Friday afternoon to grab one of their beers. Bar was full so we sat at a high top close by. Sat for 15 minutes and not one employee greeted us. They had plenty of time behind the bar to tinker with their cellphone while we waitedn Finally got up and left. Do not recommend, plenty of nicer places near by. Check out The Porch instead!

Overall, I am kind of indifferent about Kelly's Caribbean Bar. A few friends and I went here on a bar crawl, but this place definitely didn't stand out in the crowd of bars. For a Key West bar, this joint is pretty big - ample room at the actual bar, and then seated areas inside and outside. This is more of an enclosed location, so it's more convivial as supposed to facing just street. Kind of dingy inside, but has the typical Key West flair. The drink specials are just like they are anywhere else in Key West, with two-for-one drinks and appetizer specials. However, we were served the wrong food twice. That's good from the perspective of being able to eat a lot of random free food, but makes me question if the other people for which that food was destined had to wait even longer. Overall, in a town so many bars, Kelly's Caribbean Bar isn't really a must-go place in my opinion.

So when i heard this establishment was owned by Kelly m Gillis i was caught up in the whole 80's moment. Alas her mashed potatoes were not even half as steamy as that Top Gun love scene! The atmosphere is nice thanks to the beautiful old trees and age of the building. The menu however is limited and confusing. The only steak on the menu was a filet mignon . There was no mention of it being marinaded in the sweat of satan! This thing was spicy to say the least and as someone who has ulcers.... Well as you can guess i pushed it to the aide and had veg for dinner. I doubt i would ever go back i give it two yucks and a bleh!!

I love Kelly's. The Ambience is beyond compare. Bar is great. Sitting in the original Pan Am office, beautiful. But the food, COME ON. I had the scampi and it was like eating rubber washers. In Key West, the land of five star restaurants, this place cannot last long. Kelly please email me. I could turn your kitchen around.

The servers ignored us and I had to walk to their bar where one short blond waitress stood eating a sandwich. The other staff appeared busy but also didn't acknowledge us.

We have been to Kelly's for happy hour and it was fine. However, when we went the other night the bar was packed...not unusual...the thing that threw me was an older gentleman was sitting at the bar with his dog...ok not unusual in a Key West...what shocked me was that the dog had his own seat at the bar! That's right, we couldn't find seats but the dog had his own stool...taking it from a paying customer. Wonder who sat there after the dog finished his dinner...yep...the owner was feeding his food to the dog...don't get me wrong, I love dogs...but ewwww sitting on that seat after the dogs rear was all over it!

For 20 minutes of sitting at a table, we got more attention from a fan than any employee that was waiting tables. We went across the street to Grunts for an AMAZING meal. My two cents: try this place if your feet are tired and you're tired of your family. This is a great place to not be bothered by anyone. Hungry? Go elsewhere, or you'll leave even hungrier than you came.

A bit of a delayed review, as I was there in 12/2009 (see photos), but I saw the other review and thought to come to Kelly's defense. I can't speak for their pie or their full fledged meals, but their beer is really pretty good--which is really why one comes to a brewery, right? Really enjoyed having local beer, and I recall enjoying the one or two apps that we ordered. Kelly's would be one fo the few places I would come back to in Key West, since I found the entire area and most of its food establishments to be pretty miserable. I just think it's hard to get fresh ingredients out to the island? I also really enjoyed Kelly's outdoor seating and bar area. Beautiful trees, incredibly leafy and viney! Really an AWESOME atmosphere. So, yes--four stars: for the fact that they have local beer; that the beer accross the styles was good+; the apps were a great accompaniment for the beer; for their outdoor area, and, becuasethis is one of only a handful of laidback atmosphere restaurants that somehow hasn't been infiltrated with the Key West glitz and schmutz.

Kelly's has a pretty good happy hour - great prices and delicious wings. However, the two beers I had tasted like water - and one of them was served in a steaming hot glass, which I assume had come straight out of the dishwasher. So I'd definitely return for the wings, not for the beer though.

We just had our best dinner in weeks here at Kelly's. everything was spectacular, service, atmosphere, drinks, and of course the food. We had the grouper and Opah. Both were fresh, and uniquely tasteful. Highly recommended, all thumbs up to Kelly's.

Great bar food and happy hour. Recommend this above their actual dinner which was fine but pricey given the quality.

Went there for lunch and enjoyed it so much we went there for dinner the same day. The next day I had to convince my boyfriend that we had to try other places in the Key cause he wanted to go back. The food was awesome and the service was friendly. Next time we're in the Keys you bet that we'll be going back there!

Stopped in for a cold one off the street. Nice ambiance and set up but had trouble finding a bar tender to pull us a beer. When we did there was very little conversing, nor suggestions. Felt like we were making her work when she wanted to be using her phone. Asked for glass of water before we left - had to wait for her to come back, the water was offered and again not a single word uttered - don't get it.

I'm going back to Key West in October for Fantasy Fest, so thought I'd hold off writinig any reviews until I got back. However, based on my LAST trip there (last Spring), I simply HAD to write this about Kelly's. We dropped by mid-afternoon for a drink and a slice of Key Lime Pie. We'd been told it was a great place to go for that. Wow, was THAT wrong. The food was marginal. The pie tasted more-or-less like defrosted Sara Lee. The glass of iced tea was... well... more or less like Mom's iced tea, right? All in all, basically nothing to pay money for. But the service... my GAWD it was the worst service in the history of the restaurant biz. The person who seated us was perfunctory. The waitress was totally inattentive, and when we tried to get her attention, she was surly. Key Westies survive off the tourist trade. I'm sorry, folks, but ya'll can't make a living off wreck salvaging and piracy anymore, so you're gonna have to put up with US if you're going to eat regularly and live indoors. Now, on the bright side, if the service is even AVERAGE we tend to tip nicely. Kelly's is living solely off the 20-year-old rep of an actress who did one semi-memorable love scene with Tom Cruise. I wonder if she ever goes there herself?
